Message	i have gone through a few of them over the years in a couple of cars. most recently, i had complete failure where the cylinder where the shifter support linkage stud goes up into completely sheared away from the rubber leaving the shifter free to move up and down. drove it home, but you have to constantly hold it up and away from the driveshaft.
